Building a Strong Foundation
Choose 'No' Over FOMO for Lasting Fulfillment
Living life with a strategic foundation is more fulfilling than merely relying on a collection of tactics. Tactics alone can lead to decisions lacking a solid base. Just as a house cannot be built in a day or without a strong foundation, our companies and lives require a well-laid groundwork.
Establishing this foundation is crucial. It's the framework upon which everything else is built. Once the foundation is established, you can truly live within it, savoring and celebrating the stability it provides.
However, life is dynamic, and sometimes renovations are necessary. Life is about experiencing, learning, adapting and understanding how your foundation supports you, what brings joy, and what interactions enrich your life. With a strong foundation you can better decide what to do when the plan doesn’t go according to plan. Taking the time to respond and not react.
Life can be swift and challenging. With a strong foundation, you can evaluate decisions by asking if they align with your core values. Often, the most significant moments in life involve saying "no" rather than "yes." While saying "yes" may come easily, "no" can be difficult because it might feel like a disappointment to others.
Saying "no" might lead to the fear of missing out (FOMO). Yet, at certain points in life, embracing "NOMO FOMO" not fearing missing out can be liberating, as it focuses on what truly brings happiness. And that feels just as good.
